Show Details Note: After Edward's death the business was run by David & Sarah Morphew‎(Standen)‎ who exhibited at the Crystal Palace 1851.
David Morphew died 1852 & Sarah was joined by her sons Jeffery & Edward Standen Morphew. Sarah resigned in 1876 & Jeffery resigned 1877.
Edward Standen Morphew as sole owner had the premises rebuilt 1900/1 to a design by his son Reginald & subsequently sold & leased back the premises. The business remained at this address until 1959.
Edward Standen Morphew died 1912. Subsequent directors were a D Morphew & J E Morphew.
The company was sold to Hunt & Winterbotham Ltd in 1959 & all family connection then ceased.

Notes

Note 		Edward Standen had business in the Shetland Woollen industry and was apparantly the first person to introduce Shetland woollen products in England using 112 Jermyn Street, London as his warehouse.
After his death in 1845 it would appear that the business was carried on by Catherine Sirman Standen, his sister Sarah and her husband David Morphew. Edward Standen wrote a paper on the Shetland Islands which was read at the opening of the Devonport Mechanics Institution when an exhibition was made of choice specimens of Shetland Knitting, August 1844.
